Final digi-pak

Th final digi-pak. This was edited using fotoflexer which is a free online editor for photographs. The inside covers are images which have been used for the double page spread magazine advert so they relate to what the advert will show, so if somebody saw the magazine advert they would recognise the EP/album.The back indise cover is where the CD will be placed. The front covers will have the actor on the front over looking a wooded area, The wooded area is seen in the film product so it rel.ates to both the fim and the magazine advert making it an extreamly effective product. The spine will have the missing segment from the front and left covr image to link the three images together, it will also have "Gotye- Somebody That I used To Know " written down them both.

Digi-Pack 1st draft

This is the rough draft of what our Digi-pack will look like as stated the bottom left and bottom middle covers will contain black and white images of a forest location as if the picture has been torn up. This idea of the picture being torn up relates to the broken relationship as seen in video product. On the top right and top left covers behind where their faces are there will be a woodland area to fit in with the theme of the film. Also including a picture of the artist adds onto Goodwins media theories of the artist being included into the video and digipacks. Not only is this a theory of Goodwins but in rock a common theme of Digi-packs is that it contains the artist within them, as gotye's genre is alternative rock it contains the artist on the front. (our version of the artist that is)

Digi-pak template

This is the digipak template we are using. We are deciding to use a 6 sided one as it means we can stretch an image out onto more oanels to give a better effect and add a sense of a divide into the digi pak. This divide fits in with the story which is happening in the video.

Digi-pak research

As seen the front cover the smiths digipak includes a picture of the artist as this is a convention of the rock genre to include the artist on the digipak and in the video as stated by the theorist Gooodwin. As the song 'somebody that i used to know' by Gotye is a alternative rock song it would follow the conventions if in our first draft we include the artist (not the real artist but the singer in the video) in the digipak. Preferably on the front cover.

As it is seen on the back of a different digipak of the smiths the song names are there, this is a common theme which is seen throughout most genres of music. The initial we did not include the song name/s on the back but after seeing many other digipaks by similar artists it is something that may be included in the final product. 

Another idea which is seen in the killers digipak which we are wanting to incorporate into our digipak idea  is the black and white images. Black and white are common colours which are seen within rock and sub-genres of rock, we would like to add black and white into our digipak but as if the picture has been torn up. The tear linking in with the idea of a torn and broken relationship which is seen in the video and heard through the lyrics of the song. 

Initial Magazine advert idea

As a group we have come together and decided on a double page spread so both the male and female character can be facing eachother on a different page each. This seperation will link in with the break up idea and thaht they both have there own space. This space relates to the video as they have split up and both have there own space. To split the couple up there will be album information straight dowen the middle making the divide between the male and female charcter more defined.
